The practice, which also acts for financial services and life sciences entities, is recognised for its marked focus on regulatory matters, including compliance, data protection and consumer law. Dentons Cardenas & Cardenas’ TMT practice strikes the right note with clients for its ability to provide ‘comprehensive reviews that help internal teams make important decisions’. The department is closely aligned with the firm’s IP and competition offerings, and focuses on regulatory compliance, data protection, and administrative law litigation — it also stands out for its emphasis on social media-related matters. The department is co-led by regulatory duo Juanita Acosta and Luz Helena Adarve, both of whom specialise in IP, technology, privacy and cybersecurity. The team additionally includes experienced associate Rocío Ruíz, who handles data and consumer protection. Former department co-head Mónica Bonnett left in July 2025.

The multidisciplinary TMT team at Lloreda Camacho & Co. scores highly with clients for its ability to draw on ‘experts with diverse profiles and backgrounds’. On the telecoms front, the group is distinguished by the prominent reputation of department head Gustavo Tamayo, who contributes significant experience in complex regulatory matters and administrative litigation. The former ECIJA Colombia-team has departed the Spanish-headquartered firm to relaunch as an independent firm, Veria Asesores, a 32-strong, heavily tech-oriented boutique. Given the firm's novelty - it launched in September 2025 - its current client roster remains unclear; however, the team - much of which has been together since it's pre-ECIJA incarnation, MBCR - has a proven track record across the TMT sector. The group combines an increasingly prominent media and entertainment offering with a robust regulatory practice, which leverages its competition expertise to advise on data and consumer protection law. Department co-head Patricia Renjifo is highly regarded for media and entertainment work, where she ‘specialises in meeting the needs of the audio-visual sector’. Fellow co-head Pablo Márquez — a former Executive Director of the Communications Regulation Commission — is recommended for ICT and telecoms regulation. Former senior associate Paula Gutiérrez de Piñeres departed for Netflix in May 2025.

Following the departure of much of the former MBCR Abogados' team (with which it had merged in 2021), Ecija Colombia has restructured with the appointment of four new partners. A member of the firm since 2023, tax and wealth management specialist David Bedoya becomes the new managing partner; while the arrivals of TMT specialist Stella Vanegas Morales and Alejandro Londoño, who focuses on data privacy and tech regulation (via the absorption of former privacy and data protection boutique Vanegas Morales), ensures the office can maintain its longstanding tech orientation. Rounding out the new arrivals to the senior bench is February 2025 hire, Nicolás Barón, formerly the managing partner at his own firm (Laserna & Barón), who has over 20 years' corporate-financial experience. The new arrivals join a partnership group including Carlos Gómez and Víctor Garzón (tax), Luis Fernando Torres (public law) and Gerson Castañeda (litigation).

The TMT practice at Esguerra JHR ‘does not generate confrontation but rather fosters high-level debates’, according to some. Striking a balance between telecoms regulation and data protection, the team is particularly noted for its activity on behalf of trophy client Claro Colombia. Competition and telecoms partner Alfonso Miranda Londoño co-heads the department alongside Andrés Jaramillo Hoyos, who is recognised for his work intersecting TMT, competition and consumer law. In August 2024, associate Liliana Runcería Rodríguez left to go freelance.

The July 2025 merger between local firm Gómez-Pinzón Abogados and incoming Spanish heavyweight Pérez-Llorca is expected to bolster the Colombian entity’s TMT practice, increasing its access to major multinational clients. The interdisciplinary group is already noted for its sound regulatory offering, which is particularly active in advising domestic and foreign corporations on regulations concerning data protection, AI, cybersecurity, consumer law and TMT law. Following the departure of former practice director Andrés Fernández De Castro in February 2025, Mauricio Jaramillo Campuzano, whose work spans IP, competition and TMT, is sole head of the practice. Widely commended as an ‘excellent firm on personal data protection issues’, Vanegas Morales Consultores focuses exclusively on data protection, information security and emerging technologies. Despite its compact size, the three-lawyer micro-boutique brings significant experience in handling data protection, cybersecurity and incident management across all key economic sectors, including construction, financial services, life sciences, technology and transport. Founding partner Stella Vanegas is noted for her ‘excellent knowledge’ and heads a team that also includes consultant Andrea Garzón. In May 2024, consultant Ángela Noguera left to go freelance.

Abello Abogados attracts praise for its ‘mastery of laws related to personal data protection’. The regulatory boutique advises on a broad range of data protection, entertainment, and consumer law matters, with growing activity in AI and cookieless technology. Founding partner Felipe Abello ‘doesn't just advise you, he teaches you’, and is particularly recognised for work related to data protection and new technologies. Associate Paula Avendaño is also noted for technology and privacy law.

Márquez-Robledo’s TMT practice leverages the firm’s close relationships with major global advertising agencies — including Publicis Media Groupe and Omnicom — to specialises in advising on media, advertisement, and entertainment-related matters. Founding partner Santiago Márquez Robledo leads the group and is noted for his adept handling of corporate IP, entertainment, media and advertising work. The TMT and data protection group at Martínez Quintero Mendoza González Laguado & de la Rosa has a strong regulatory component, with a focus on privacy and consumer protection law. Department head María Claudia Martínez — who additionally leads the competition area — advises on regulatory compliance and risk prevention matters. The practice also houses a significant data protection offering, which primarily advises energy, media, life sciences, retail, technology and telecoms companies. Key contacts in the interdisciplinary team include regulatory partners Juan Moure and Carlos Olarte. Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría draws heavily on its competition and IP lawyers to handle mandates across the telecoms, media, and technology sectors. The firm also maintains a strong presence in data protection matters, acting for clients in all key industry segments. Regulatory partner Diego Cardona is noted for his experience advising TMT clients on competition and consumer protection issues, and co-heads the interdisciplinary department alongside Gerardo Flórez, who splits his practice between IP, life sciences and TMT work.
